Reception Trip to the Wetlands Centre

2nd April 2019

Reception enjoyed a lovely trip to the Wetland Centre in Barnes, where they had fun in an indoor adventure room, braved the rain outside in the adventure playground and took part in a pond dipping session.

They found various different pond life using the nets to capture them. They worked in small groups to identify the different creatures by observing how many legs they had, the shape of their bodies and how they moved. We finished off singing ‘Old MacDonald had a pond'!

By the end of the day, the children were able to recognise at least two species that live in the fresh water pond as well as describe similarities and differences between pond animals.
